Karen Whitman's vision is very personal. Her cityscapes are sometimes based on reality, and others are invented; however, whichever route she takes, her city is always inviting and engaging and reconnects the viewer with the human side of the concrete jungle. Karen is a Long Island native and received a BFA from the State University of New York, Buffalo. She moved to New York City in 1976, where she worked at numerous commercial and fine art printing and graphic design establishments. Presently, she lives and works on her linocuts in Woodstock, N.Y. Karen's other passions and talents have led her to perform as an acrobat in the Big Apple Circus, sing solo at Carnegie Hall, write and perform music with her husband, artist Richard Pantel.
